About Nadia Mboya's work:
Poem Title:
Memories engraved within me
Poem Theme:
The beauty of aging
Poem Inspiration:
A lot of people online and on social media glamorize Botox and anti-aging products or treatments. I find that kind of silly, because it’s made young people think that’s the norm that aging is this horrible, traumatic thing. That wrinkles are gross, or that any natural sign of aging needs to be fixed.

In my poem, I wanted to push back against that. I wanted to explore and debunk those ideas, and show through a speaker who’s experiencing aging (inspired by so many women who embrace it) that aging is actually something phenomenal and beautiful.
How long have they been writing poems:
I have been writing for a a few months, but I took a break and stopped writing for a while. When I came across the competition it gave me more confidence to continue writing again.
How they discovered their passion for poetry and word art:
I’m not precisely sure, but I think it was through TV shows, specifically historical period TV shows. The ones that involved poets such as Shakespeare etc. Their way of words inspired me, It made me want to communicate feelings and emotion through writing. Because of that it embarked my interest and passion in poetry.
